The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) is reviewing Port Phillip’s electoral boundaries and is considering whether single member wards or multi member wards should be the way of the future.
It is also considering whether the current number of Councillors is adequate.
CAPP has submitted two options for the future:
• 9 single member wards OR
• 4 multi member wards with 3 Councillors in each.
The VEC has issued a preliminary report that favours 3 multi member wards with 3 Councillors in each:
The Council prefers to leave things as they are – 7 single member wards with some minor ward boundary changes.
What are the pros and cons of these options? CAPP has to finalise its position by 6th May The forum will provide the details on each and you will have an opportunity to ask questions and state your views.
